Verified Species – Backed by Science

These are not generic “peppermint shrimp” — they are true Lysmata boggessi, the only peppermint shrimp species scientifically demonstrated to consistently consume Aiptasia under aquarium conditions. We provide clear top-down photos to confirm species identity, along with video evidence of our actual shrimp feeding on Aiptasia in reef tanks.

Current Size and Care Advice

Measurement is considering only the body of the shrimp, not including antenae. We recommend caution if your tank includes wrasses or other aggressive fish, as smaller shrimp may be at risk.

Why Choose GreenWave Aquatics Shrimp?

All our peppermint shrimp are bred in-house in the UK. By choosing captive-bred Lysmata boggessi, you support sustainable aquaculture while gaining a reliable, natural solution to Aiptasia. Our shrimp are raised in controlled, species-specific conditions to ensure health, hardiness, and compatibility with reef systems.

Key Features

• Captive bred in the UK – no impact on wild populations

• Effective Aiptasia control* – species-confirmed and behaviourally proven

• Reef-safe and peaceful – suitable for most reef aquaria

• Hardy and tank-raised – well acclimated to captive conditions

Important Note on Aiptasia Control

While Lysmata boggessi is the most reliable peppermint shrimp for managing Aiptasia, individual results may vary based on tank conditions, pest density, and shrimp behaviour. We do not guarantee complete eradication, but we only supply this verified species — never wild-caught imports or lookalikes.
